Vincent was introduced to the arts at a young age by his grandfather, who taught him the basics of drawing, watercolor, and oil painting. He later studied watercolor with a prominent artist in Red Bank, New Jersey. In 1970, his love of nature and traveling took him to Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he stayed for three years, working as an under-painter for a well known landscape and portrait artist. In 1993, Richel and his family settled in Maine. In addition to his paintings, Vincent has expanded his work to include fine woodworking and driftwood furniture. Inspired by the natural beauty and wildlife found in the mountain wilderness of Western Maine, he has created a line of clocks and mirrors, using the natural colors of many different exotic species of woods in his work. The driftwood used in his lamps, tables, and clocks has been gathered from the shores of the many lakes in the area.
Whether it's a one-of-a-kind piece, or part of his line of works, each work of art is individually hand-crafted by the artist. |
